Perfect acclimatization day is important while joining any trip that comprises high altitude elevations so that to make our body adapt dynamic surroundings. And Namche Bazar, the most well-known village in Khumbu is usually the first and foremost site for acclimatization during most of the Everest region treks. Usually, during our Everest base camp trek, we take a short ascend towards Everest view hotel that offers excellent sights of Lhotse, Amadablam, Nuptse and other surrounding peaks including top of the world, Mt. Everest. While you are at Namche, you also have another option to go for short day hikes. Few of them are mentioned as follows:
Khumjung and Khunde, both are twin villages located at the Everest region nearby Namche Bazar. One amazing thing about these villages is the standard green roofs at every home keeping the roofs of monasteries as exception. The villages offer great traditional insights into local Sherpas culture with all facilities being available for tourists. The both of these sites offer excellent views of nearby Himalayas like Amadablam, Thamserku and others. And the major highlights would be the Khumjung monastery where there is the scalp of Yeti is also being exhibited. In the similar way, at the village of Khunde, it is believed that the Guru Rimpoche had meditated. It is more like a small circuit encompassing great insights and views. In this way, you can take a short walk around these villages during your acclimatization day at Namche Bazar.
From Namche Bazaar, heading approximately 6 miles towards northeast, takes you towards Thame which also lies on the trekking route of Everest high passess trek. If 6 miles is very far, then you also have an option to go only half a way and return from there at local small river stream. Visit the local monastery overthere and also this place is the hometown of legendary mountain climber Apa Sherpa who holds the guiness world record of reaching at Everest summit record 21 times. The views are equally magnificent and this short hike of the day would be a perfect acclimatization hike from Namche Bazar.
A day hike to Everest view hotel is what we mostly visit for acclimatization from Namche. We ascend around 500m ahead and walk along the ridge to arrive at Everest view hotel. Visitors can enjoy excellent views of Everest Himalayan panoramas from there.
In this way, you have quite a few sites to visit during acclimatization day at Namche Bazar. Which one would you prefer? Or, if you had been there, then how was your experience? We love to hear from you.
