Domestic airline operators have decided to cut the airfare by adjusting the fuel surcharge in line with the decline in the price of aviation fuel. Airlines Operators Association of Nepal (AOAN), today, took a decision to slash fuel surcharge by Rs 168.75 to Rs 581.50, depending on the destination.

The association has stated that the revised fuel surcharge will come into effect from August 7 (Friday). Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC), on August 2, had cut the aviation fuel price by Rs 15 per litre to Rs 118 a litre. AOAN for long had been demanding that government reduce aviation fuel price.

As per the airfare fixation criteria, airline operators are supposed to revise airfare whenever there is a change in aviation fuel price by more than eight per cent. The recent change in the pricing has made aviation fuel cheaper by around 12 per cent. “We have decided to cut fuel surcharge in all destinations immediately after the change in aviation fuel charge,” said Dhana Raj Acharya, spokesperson for AOAN.
