Hindu Circuit: New product proposal for pilgrimage tourism in Nepal
Kathmandu: Nepal has been establishing itself as pilgrimage tourism destination. According to tourism professionals, in the present context, along with adventure tourism like trekking, mountaineering, Nepal can be promoted as prime Hindu pilgrimage destination. And the idea of Hindu circuit trek has been developed. The route covers both religious pilgrimage sites of India and Nepal.
Buddhist circuit has already been developed and International Airport is under construction at Birthplace of Lord Buddha. After completion of this airport it is anticipated that large number of Buddhists pilgrims will visit Nepal. Bikram Pandey, an initiator of Buddhist circuit has developed the concept of Hindu circuit. He added, an idea of “char nath aath dham hindu circuit” is already developed and can be make into practice in near future. The major route of hindu circuit and 8 pilgrimage site (aath dham) would be Ganga, Kaashi, Gorakhnath, Lumbini, Annapurna, Muktinath, Manakamana and Pashupatinath.
Around hundred thousand pilgrims have visited Nepal for pilgrimage purpose in 2014 and with this Hindu Circuit concept the number of pilgrims visiting Nepal is believed to increase in coming years.
