Join Trekking in Nepal as US, UK and NZ revises travel advisory

Is-Nepal-Safe-To-Travel

Go for Trekking in Nepal around Annapurna Region Trekking, Upper Mustang Trekking, Upper Dolpo trekking and other trekking at earthquake unaffected regions in Nepal as three of the countries United States, United Kingdom and New Zealand have lifted restrictions on their citizens travelling to Nepal. Officials from Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) stated that in near future, more countries will mark trekking in Nepal as safe in their travel advisory.

After the devastating earthquake struck Nepal on 25th of April followed by continuous powerful aftershocks, almost every country had issued a travel advisory stating travel to Nepal only on emergencies. However, after two months US, UK and NZ updated their travel advisory stating that Nepal is now safe for travel though there are a few aftershocks yet.

United States is the third largest tourist source market for Nepal. Tourism Ministry statistics show Nepal received 47,355 tourists from the US. The number was 17,518 in 2002. Nepal received 2,808 tourists from New Zealand in the previous year. New Zealand was the first country to review its travel advisory. On June 30, it officially informed the NTB that it has lowered its risk level, which was raised in the immediate aftermath of the earthquake.

The government, in a bid to revive the tourism industry, has been persuading countries to consider Nepal in regard to travel alerts they have imposed post earthquake. “The softening of the travel warnings is a welcome sign for the Nepal’s tourism industry, which has already been experiencing a downturn,” said Ashok Pokhrel, president of the Nepal Association of Tour Operators (NATO). “It will also ease the travel insurance process for many people planning a vacation in Nepal.”

Therefore, as the travel advisory issued by foreign countries for travelling Nepal is becoming lighter and lighter; it is anticipated that there will be slowly and steadily increase in number of tourists embarking for various tours and trekking in Nepal.
