Times says: Visiting Nepal is The Best Way to Rebuild Nepal
Devastating 7.9 magnitude earthquake destroyed most areas around Kathmandu valley including world Heritage sites and collapsed almost all of the houses at nearby villages. But tourism related companies and officials affirm that tourists visiting Nepal will play key role in rebuilding the villages and bringing the life back into normal.
Earthquake struck at summer trekking season of Nepal and I will negatively affect autumn trekking activities starting from month of September. As the bookings in peak trekking season are being cancelled.
Popularized as unmatched natural beauty, 8 of top 10 world’s highest peaks along culturally affluent heritage sites, Nepal welcomes around a million tourists on annual basis. Tourism plays a vital role in economic development of the country and the opportunities are endless.
According to TAAN’s CEO Ganga Sagar Pant, Nepal tourism industry should not be turned into a shred that has been contributing 10 percent to national GDP. Nepal still possesses Himalayas, Mountains, flora and fauna, forests and trekking trails.
TAAN is planning test trekking expeditions to popular trekking sites like the Mount Everest circuit, the Annapurna region and the Langtang region in near future, so that more concrete picture of the earthquake’s impact can be formed.
Nepal government is actively collecting the loss of infrastructure, heritage sites and popular trekking trails so that the process of rebuild can be accessed as soon as possible. Mohan Krishna Sapkota, spokesperson for Nepal’s Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Civil Aviation said that “There are many trekking trails and destinations not affected by earthquake so our focus is on those places as well.” He added that Nepal can be re-established as safe, unique and attractive tourist destination. People from all over the world are helping in this tragic situation and best way to rebuild Nepal is to flourish its tourism sector once again.
