Langtang Region Trekking

Langtang trekking region dominates the northern central region of Nepal offering diversified hiking options. These alternatives range from 7 to 13 days of trekking adventures nearby Kathmandu valley with roadways that connects start and ending point of trek on private jeep or public bus. Basically, we will have tea house accommodation on every trekking day with an exception of few day camps in Ganja la pass trek. The local inhabitants are mostly from Sherpa and Tamang ethnic groups, who will welcome you with their open heart presenting their local meals while representing their culture and tradition. They have overcome the 2015 earthquake disaster and now in 2017 every route, lodges are restored and safe for trekking.  Also excellent views of snow capped Himalayan range are seen especially from Kyangin Ri and Tserko ri. So, we can say that transportation, meals, accommodation, routes, culture, Himalayan views, safety and everything regarding Lantang trek encourages any avid traveler to make this happen sooner or later. Now let’s discuss about best time and the trekking route options based on how many days you have.

You can come and enjoy Langtang trekking trips during any time of the year. Trek routes at Ganja la pass and Gosaikunda are challenging and not recommended during winter. Besides that it is always a great time to go for Langtang trek. You will see blossoming rhododendron trees during spring months of March, April, May with clear views of Himalayan giants during autumn months of late September, October and November.  One rainy months like July to mid September (monsoon), the trek is doable but you would rather expect of excellent vegetation, greeneries and not the Himalayan views. If you are lucky then only you can see the views during those cloudy months.

Of course, winter is cool and chilly, but offers excellent views!!

7-8 Days

Langtang Valley Trek—Moderate level trek

8 days Langtang Valley Trek is short and most popular trip which can be completed also in 7 days if you are able and prefer to walk longer. It is value for money trip with excellent opportunities to witness best of Langtang in short and easy way. This trip is suitable for most travelers and can be joined during any time of the year.

8-9 Days

Langtang valley trek – Moderate level trek

This trek is similar to above mentioned Langtang valley trek. The only difference is that the trek ends at Dhunche instead of Syabrubesi. It will add an extra day route deviation and we can walk through different route. Trekking up same trail and returning back onsame trail seems monotonous to some, hence this program provides a little deviation and exploration through more villages of Langtang region thus a more cultural picture can be seen on this trek.

I. Langtang Valley Trek with Gosaikunda and back to Dhunche: Moderately challenging

Langang Valley trek with Gosainkunda is an excursion to Gosaikunda via main Langtang Valley trekking route and ends at Dhunche. It will be more exciting, challenging and fun to see more of Langtang region in less possible time.  We trek through demanding Lauribina pass to reach Gosainkunda, a sacred lake site for Hindus and Buddhist. Many Hindu pilgrims throng to Gosainkuna during ‘Janai Purnima’, a one-day festival observed in August every year.

(can be done in 10 days if you are tight of time and ready to walk long for some day)

II. Langtang valley and Ganja la Pass trek

It is the most adventurous, challenging, high altitude and off the beaten path trekking in Langtang region. You need to be strong, fit, ready to spend night at a camp for couple of days and should have real passion for trekking through rugged trails. Ganja la pass at 5122m is impassable during winter months. Therefore, consider planning for this trek during peak trekking season like autumn and spring months.

If you are looking for moderate, longer trek with cultural experinces, combining Langtang valley with Tamang Heritage trail will be good option.
