Devastating Nepal Earthquake in Himalayan region and Midhills
April 25, 2015 turned out to be a black day for Nepal and its people. At 11: 56 AM a devastating Earthquake of 7.9 moment magnitude that epicentered Barpak of Gorkha District hit the Gorkha neighboring districts including Kathmandu. The quake is Nepal’s worst in 80 years. More big and small earthquakes epicentered Sindhupalchok and other places of Nepal continued to hit for several days. This devastation has claimed lives of more than 7500 people and the death toll is rising as there more people missing. Number of injured are double that of deceased. Nearly two million houses are damaged. Many UNESCO World Heritage Sites of Kathmandu have been destroyed. 90% of the schools of the affected areas are destroyed. Millions of Nepalese are obliged to take shelter under the tents and the tragic part is that several beautiful mid-hill villages of central Nepal seem like ghost towns.
The Everest Region and Langtang Region got avalanche triggered by the earthquake which claimed lives of 19 climbers and whole Langtang village is swept away killing more than 250 people.
Some guides and staffs of Icicles Adventure Team got their property totally damaged but fortunately all of us including our family members are safe. We have considered it our duty to help and support the earthquake victims, we have put our 100% efforts to support the victims of some affected places. We are a small team and our limited source is not sufficient to help a lot of are. So, we have focused our help to Syalyantar and Kumpur of Dhading District. We have donated some tents and food to villages of these regions. We would like to help more villages, and ask our friends and clients to support earthquake victims directly or through us. Our next step would be to remake the villages and this need a good bit of fund. Your small contribution makes a big difference, so please don’t hesitate to help anyway you can.
