Walking in this route is like a gem of experience which has huge touristic potential. With varied atmosphere, topography, culture and excellent views of Annapurna Himalayan ranges, it involves walking through rocky terrains and couple of base camps. This Mardi Himal hike completes in around a week depending upon your interest, fitness and routes that you choose.

Mardi Himal Trekking initiates from beautiful lake city of Pokhara. During the starting day of this trek, you will take a comfortable one hour drive towards Kande. It is the beginning point of our trekking activity. Absorb in an excellent natural highlight along with deep cultural insights. Our Mardi Himal Trek continues as we walk through beautiful Gurung villages watching magical rhododendron forests at right side. During spring season, rhododendrons are in full bloom and simply add another reason to join this trek.

Staying at forest camp then, at low camp and high camp in next consecutive days offering exceptional sunrise, sunset views of Mt. Machapuchare, Mt. Mardi Himal and other nearby snow capped Himalayas.  We finally reach the highest point of the trek at Mardi Himal Base Camp (West) located at 4500m above sea level and further return down the routes back to Pokhara, then Kathmandu which completes this short and moderate trekking adventure in Nepal.

Best season and fitness for Mardi Himal Trek

Best time for Mardi Himal Trek is during Late September, October, November. Also in early December, whereas during spring time of February, March and April, is second best. Clear views of snow white Himalayas is seen in perfect temperature during these months.

In the similar way, moderate level of fitness level with an ability to walk 4 – 6 hours a day for 6 – 7 days is recommended. Fitness and health conditions varies from one person to another. Day 4: Drive from Pokhara to Kande, trek to Pitam Deurali (2100m)

We have our morning meal at hotel in Pokhara and then take an hour drive towards Kande. Kande is the starting point of the trek, and for next couple of hours (around three hours, we head towards Pitam Deurali crossing the river over suspension bridges, witnessing monasteries and mainly the essence of local Gurungs traditions and cultures. Distant views of snow capped Himalayas is seen and we stay overnight at local tea house at end of the day.

Day 5: Trek Pitam Deurali to Kokar Forest Camp (2550m)

We leave Pitam Deurali behind and hike for around five hours to arrive at Kokar Forest Camp. The accommodation is basic; however, we enjoy the magical forest walk. The cool shades of tree, much of greenery, chirping birds and after few hours of jungle walk, you arrive at forest camp with local teahouses. We stay overnight there.

Day 6: Trek Kokar Forest Camp to Low camp (2990m)

We start our day early in the morning today, and trek further towards Low camp. The trails through forest continues, but the route was firmer than before, trees were smaller, shrubs starts to appear. The change in vegetation gives us feeling like we are gaining altitude and slowly getting closer to alpine surroundings. Low camp is famous for epic sunrise views over Macchapuchre and Annapurna Himalayas. It is highly recommended to stop here over overnight to enjoy next morning’s sunrise views. We stay here at Low camp.

Day 7: Trek Low Camp to High Camp (3580m)

If you take proper rest and sleep, then facing steep hills up today would not be that tough. You will cross 3500 meters altitude today, the rocky barren and steep walk will challenge us. Weather changes are common at higher altitudes. Get ready to see the best but also prepare for the worst weather situations. Our guide will ensure what to do, what to carry, where to go and where not to,, everything before  and during the trek. Upon arrival at high camp enjoy excellent Himalayan views. Overnight stay at local teahouse in high camp.

Day 8: Trek High Camp to Mardi Himal Base Camp (West) (4500m) and return high camp (3580m)

It will be the most challenging and beautiful day of our Mardi Himal Trek today. We approach the base camp and final ascent of this adventure. The views of snow capped mountains are great. Ice might be there at higher altitudes and trail might get slippery at times.  The surroundings so beautiful, great Machhapuchre at the right and Annapurna base camp at the left with magnificent views, great trails. Either you are first time trekking in Nepal or multi time; this place will be one of the favorites. In this way after getting close to Himalayan horizons, we return to high camp for overnight stay. There is also an option to trek down to low camp also. Here instead of following the same route down, we recommend you to see different views, visit other beautiful places and meet different people. So, we will be heading towards Sidhing tomorrow.

Day 9: Trek High Camp to Sidhing (1850m)

It is not good to rush for any trek as the main purpose of trekking is enjoying it to the fullest. Therefore, with magnificent surroundings around us, Himalayan views, forests, landscapes, terraced farmlands, and through local villages we descend to Sidhing today. We stay overnight at local tea house in Sidhing.

Day 10: Trek Sidhing to Lumre and drive to Pokhara (900m)

Our final trekking day today. We descend mostly for couple of hours to arrive at Lumre today from where we take a drive to scenic lake city of Pokhara. If we have free time today, we do sightseeing around attractions of Pokhara valley. Overnight stay at hotel in Pokhara.
