Trip Overview

Join Everest view trek if you are planning to visit Nepal in a quick time. Everest view trek is not only short but also an easier one than other Everest treks that can be joined by any travel lover regardless their age and fitness level. As the name explains itself, Everest view trek offers wonderful close views of Everest and other surrounding peaks while offering chance to explore culturally affluent friendly villages of Sherpas. No altitude sickness, no strenuous hiking; its simple and quick way to get Everest trekking experience.

Everest view trek begins after your arrival at Kathmandu followed by short and scenic mountain flight to Lukla airstrip. Enjoy breathtaking Himalayan views from the flight and get yourself out from the plane, of course after landing. Then start your trekking through beautiful forests, alongside Dudh Koshi River, cross the long suspension bridge, overall enjoy the perfect mountainous atmosphere with glimpses of white Himalayas that plays hide and seek until we arrive at higher grounds. First day of trekking ends at Phakding and we push ourselves towards Namche Bazar walking through foothills of Himalayas enjoying great views, exploring Sherpa cultures, traditions and lifestyles. Namche Bazar is a popular center place at Khumbu region with happening local markets with plenty of local products on display. During this trip, we hike up to Syangboche airport and Everest view hotel that offers excellent views of Ama Dablam, Nuptse, Lhotse and other surrounding peaks. Visiting around monasteries, school and museums around nearby villages offers plenty of local exploration opportunities. In this way, we return to Lukla and Kathmandu in next couple of days that concludes our short and easy Everest view trek.

Everest view trek is possible to do throughout the year except the monsoon months (July, August) is not advisable. In just eight days, anyone with less time to spend in Nepal can get delightful trekking in Nepal experience at most popular Everest trekking region. This trek can be done by any normal physically fit individual without previous trekking experience. Therefore this trek is for you regardless your age and interest level.

Acclimatization means adapting to changing atmosphere at higher altitudes where air is thinner and your body needs some time to keep up the blood flow. Getting to know about acclimatization can be a life saver. So, if you are trekking and climbing at higher altitudes then it is very necessary to know about AMS, its preventive measures, symptoms and cure.

The chances of getting sick during the trek and getting caught by AMS are very less during this Everest view trek. However, if any symptoms of altitude sickness are noticed, then our trained and experienced trekking guide will take you to the lower altitudes, if you get injured first aid medications will be applied and airlifted to Kathmandu only if condition further worsens.

Like most of the Nepal trekking trips, Spring and Autumn are the two main seasons for this Everest view trek too. During this March, April and May capture the blossoming rhododendron forests, while, during September, October, November get excellent views of Everest Himalayas in quick time within a week.

While you are at Everest view trek, along the trekking trails from Lukla to Lukla, you will be served with full board meals, i.e. Breakfast, Lunch and dinner in a day. And before heading to Lukla, we recommend you to buy some dry fruits and energy bars like raisin, cashew nuts, Mars etc. for quick energy boost that will supply extra energy into your body. All in all, you will be eating typical Nepali, Indian and Tibetan style yum food.

During the trekking days of Everest view trek, you will be sleeping at tea houses along the trails. This being the popular route, plenty of tea houses are available. These lodges range from basic to standard facilities with mostly on twin sharing basis.

Yes you can recharge your batteries at tea house for little extra charge. Usually, the plug in are made available at dining halls only, not at bed rooms. If you wish to skip all these, then you are advised to bring extra set of batteries.

Everest View Trek – 8 days Day to day Itinerary

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu (1,338 m)

As you land at Tribhuvan International airport (TIA), finish your custom formalities (visa, etc.) and get to the airport waiting terminal, you will find our representative waiting to greet you. He/she will be holding Icicles Adventure Treks and Tours signboard with your name. Our representative will welcome you and transfer you to your respective hotel in our private vehicle. Overnight in hotel.

Day 02: Kathmandu (1,338 m/4,390 ft): Sightseeing and Trek Preparation

After breakfast we start a guided tour to several medieval and spiritual sites in Kathmandu which are also listed as UNESCO World Heritage Sites including the historic Durbar Square, the sacred Hindu temple of Pashupati Nath, the famous ‘Monkey Temple’ (Swayambhunath) and Buddhists shrine (BouddhaNath) which is one of the large Stupas in the world. Later after sightseeing program, we will introduce you with your trekking guide and have a small pre-trip meeting. You can also take an opportunity to hire/buy any last minute trekking equipment or bargain for your souvenirs at the many stores. You are advised to pack your things and be set up for your actual Everest base camp trekking adventure that will begin the next day. Overnight in hotel. Included Meal: B

Day 03: Kathmandu - Lukla (2,800 m/9,184 ft) - Phakding (2,652 m/8,700 ft)

Wake up at dawn and be ready for the adventure. We will usher you to domestic terminal of Kathmandu airport for an early morning flight. After an adventurous 40 minute flight above the array of beautiful green and white mountains, we arrive at the Tenzing-Hillary Airport at Lukla (2,800m/9,186ft), an entry town from where your Everest Base Camp trek begins. This is one of the most beautiful air routes in the world concluding in a dramatic landing site on a hillside surrounded by high mountains peaks. In Lukla, we meet our additional crew members and do some packing and arrangements, we start our trek through the prosperous village of Lukla, descend to Chaurikharka, head up the Dudhkoshi valley until we reach Phakding. As we just land at the altitude of almost 3000m today, to assist in acclimatization, we only have a short walk today. Yet, if you are interested in additional activities you can take a side trip to a nearby monastery. Overnight in a local lodge. Walking time 3 -4 hrs, Included Meals: B, L, D

Day 04: Phakding - Namche Bazaar (3,440 m/11,283 ft)

We start our walk soon after breakfast. Today’s trek is exciting not only due to few uphill and downhill walks with magnificent view of Mt. Thamserku (6,608m/21,675ft) from the Benkar village.  We cross through the river banks of Dudh Koshi while crossing crossing suspension bridges along the way. We cross more bridges and reach Monjo.

We get our trekking permits checked at the entrance of Sagarmatha National Park at Jorsale. The walk is enjoyable through the river bed and we reach Hillary Suspension Bridge. As we climb up towards Namche Bazzar, magnificent sight of Kwangde Peak, Kusum peak, Kangaru peak, Mt. Everest, Lhotse, Tawache, and many other magnificent mountains greet us while ascending towards Nacmche Bazaar. Also the holy mountain of Khumbi Yul Lha (Sherpa God) is seen. We break at the Chautara to admire the view. Finally, we reach the colorful village of Namche Bazaar, the main trading Sherpa village in the Khumbu region. Overnight in a local lodge. Walking time 5-6 hrs, Included Meals: B, L, D

Day 05: Namche Bazzar - Syangboche-Everest View Hotel

Tucked away between two ridges amidst the giant peaks of the Khumbu, Namche Bazzar is center of Everest region and has plenty of lodges, tea shops, souvenir shops, money exchanges, government offices, ATMs, Internet cafes, restaurants, bakeries, etc. You can also even enjoy colorful market each Friday evening and Saturday. You can visit Visitor Center near the headquarter of the Sagarmatha National Park where you can observe an assortment of things allied to the first Everest ascenders, Sherpa culture and learn about the various flora and fauna of the Sagarmatha National Park. We take an interesting Everest View hike up to Khumjung, Syangboche airstrip and Everest View Hotel, a Japanese build deluxe hotel which offers you great views of Mt. Everest, Ama Dablam, Nuptse, Lhotse and others. Surrounded by the snowy peaks of Kongde and Thamserku and the scared peak Khumbila, Khumjung hosts a well known monastery that houses a yeti scalp. You can also visit to Hillary School which is in the same location. We trek back to Namche for the night’s rest. Walking time 4 – 5 hrs, Included Meals: B, L, D

Day 06: Namche- Lukla

We will then walk in a relaxed way as we have plenty of time. After multiple crossings over the prayer flags, stupas, mani walls and  festooned suspension bridges over the fast flowing Dudh Koshi and its tributaries, the trail becomes more level. The more we trek downwards the more we feel easier to breathe as the air gets denser. Although we are following the same route down, we feel completely different views with open plains, rhododendron and pine forests, and in the distance snow covered peaks. Upon arrival in Lukla, stretch those sore legs and summon up the experiences trekking. Celebrate your successful and safe trek with your crew.Overnight in a local lodge. Walking time 6 -7 hrs, Included Meals: B, L, D

Day 07: Fly back to Kathmandu

The early morning flight from Lukla drops us in Kathmandu. Flights to Kathmandu are usually scheduled for morning as wind can create problem to fly the aircraft after noon. Sometimes the flight can be delayed and even cancelled due to bad weather and other reasons that are beyond our control.  As you arrive in Kathmandu, you will be transferred to hotel. You can either rest in your hotel or go for shopping, strolling or do some visiting around Thamel. Overnight in hotel. Included Meals: B

Day 08: Final Departure

Today your Everest view Trek comes to an end. If you have more time you can do some shopping or sightseeing. Approximately 3 hours before your scheduled flight a representative from Icicles Adventure Treks and Tours will take you to the airport for your flight back home.
